Water Sensory Bin

Water Sensory Bin

I am still trying my hand at these Sensory Bins.  I really like the whole idea of them.  And my girls really seem to like them too.  Every time we do one they have so much fun.  This time we did a Water Sensory Bin.  Since summer is here and it is getting hotter I thought this might be a fun way to cool off.  Of course the day we did it it was not too hot but that is okay I think we will be doing this one again.
Once again I did the bins a little different for my 5yr old and my 15mo old. But the only real difference was the type of toys I put in the bins.  Since I used some smaller toys for the 5yr old that the little one should not play with.
I decided that I wanted to freeze some toys in ice and then put them in the bins.  So I got some toy dinosaurs and Squinkies (too small for the 15mo old)  and put them in ice cube trays and then stuck them in the freezer till
I was ready to do this bin.
The girls really thought it was cool that the toys were frozen in the ice.  But I will say that the ice melted pretty quickly.  I guess you can make bigger ice cubes if you want them to last longer.

Blue crystal rocks
Toy dinosaurs
Water toys (like fish you can get at the dollar store)
Ice cube tray (if you want to freeze toys in the ice)
Squinkies (perfect size to freeze in the trays, but only good for OLDER children)

Start by filling your bin with all the cool stuff you collected.  You want it to be colorful and have lots of different textures (smooth blue rocks, different colored and textured toys, and ice)
Fill your bin with water after you add all your stuff but make sure to add the ice last (it melts fast).
Set your kids up outside (could do it inside but It would be MESSY) and let them play and explore.

So cute! I love the idea of freezing some of the toys in ice. That picture of the two of them sitting side by side is adorable :) Found you via the All Year Round Blog Carnival. Following you now!
