Heart Tree

Valentine Heart Tree

I first saw this heart tree craft on Putti’s World, she has made several pictures like this and they all look so pretty that I wanted to try it with my girls.  We did not have any heart shaped sponges (which is what they used) so we ended up using cardboard rolls as stamps instead.

The girls had so much fun stamping that they even made more than one of these each.  And I think they could have kept on stamping all day if I let them.  These are now hanging in our playroom to decorate it for Valentines day.  And I just might frame them and keep them there after the holiday since they came out so pretty.

This is a great project for younger children since it helps with basic motor skills and hand eye coordination.  It is also a great keepsake since you use your little ones hands as the tree.  Would be great to do another one next year and compare them to see how much they grew… I just might have to do that!

SUPPLIES

White Card Stock
Brown Paint
Red Paint
Pink Paint
Cardboard Roll

DIRECTIONS

Cut your cardboard roll in half then bend the top down to make your heart.
Paint the kids hand and part of the arm (or let them paint it).
Place the hand on the paper (this makes your tree trunk)
Use your cardboard rolls as stamps.  Put one in the pink paint and one in the red.  And let the kids stamp away to make their trees!
